Hi all, does anyone have any experience with ASROCK Z97 ANNIVERSARY ATX Motherboard and the Intel Pentium G3258 CPU ?
Will the motherboard be good at providing a solid oc of at least 4.5 Ghz ? (Don't get me wrong i know that the G3258 cpus are binned so its a lottery, what i want to know is if the motherboard will be a limiting factor in the OC, or i'm guaranteed to OC with the board at a least of 4.5 Ghz)

my second question is that i noticed that the G3258 had issues with windows 10 but in the November build it was supposedly fixed, is this true for all mobos ? And its for the official windows build right ? Currently you can upgrade without issues with OC on if you have a G3258, right ?

Last question is that i have a Hyper 212 Plus CPU cooler, i got it some time in 2009-2010, will it be compatible as is, with socket 1150 ? (i know on the site it says its compatible, but for all i know they could have just updated the mounting mechanism in later packaging of this product).

Solution
I actually do have experience with a similar board + Pentium. I paired the Pentium with a Z97 Extreme 4. The overclock was easy but I only pushed it to 4.2ghz. It did want more.

Look at reviews and see how well the board does with the 4690k. Chances are the Pentium is not binned as well as the i5 or i7 that most reviewers are going to be using.

The Evo 212 will work with socket 1150, no problem. You could get by without it as the stock cooler for the Pentium does fine, however, if i you upgrade CPU's in the future, the 212 will give you some room to overclock those too. I think it is a good buy.

Most people think it is silly to pair the Pentium with a Z97 board but it really is not. Z97 will let you upgrade to a i5 or i7 and...

I have a Gigabyte Z97 board with the G3258. 4.5GHz should not be too much of a problem. No guarantees from anyone. Using air for cooling may start to be a problem at that OC level. I use a Cooler Master Seidon 240M Liquid Water Cooling System. I think 4.8GHz is about as high as they go. It took me a couple months to get my overclock figured out. It works great.

I use Windows 7, so I couldn't tell you about Windows 10.

The ASRock features, "Turn on your PC and press “P” to enter the selection page and choose the CPU frequency you would like to apply, Pentium Anniversary Boost will automatically overclock the relative components and boost the CPU frequency from 3.2 GHz to a maximum of 4.2 GHz!".

I manually overclock. My board has a button to clear the CMOS which I used many times to get my overclock right.

Thank you for the help, after making some more checks to be sure if everything is in order i placed the orders today, can't wait for 01 to try this combo in PCSX2 and dolphin XD.
