Hi, First of all: Hello everybody and thanks for reading me!

Second, the question. I am planning to get a AsRock Z97 with a i7 4770k and a NVidia GeForce 780 (the NVidia is a present). Thing is I am concern about the NVidia's energy consumption, and I was wondering whether the MOBO gives the option to select between the igpu or dgpu or not, depending on the what I need (many games I have does not require to use so powerful card and the igpu will run them perfectly). I know about the Virtu MVP, but it seems that the Z97 series does no t implement that. Do they use any other technology? Or it is using always the dgpu? Or maybe if I plug the monitor to the MOBO output will it use the igpu, and otherwise the dgpu???

Many thanks!!!
K.

Solution
From UEFI you should enable the IGPU Multi-Monitor options in the advanced section. But you probably have to plug the display to the motherboard whenever you wish to use the iGPU. I don't think it is worth the trouble.

Right but I have many games (most of them) where the i7 gpu will be more than enough.

If it is like that then I am fine with it... Don't mind to change the plug when I am going to use the dgpu, not troublesome at all.

Thanks!
