What are some pros and cons with these specific models?

You won't regret it. The ASRock Extreme4 ans Asus Z97-A have been the most popular entry level Z boards over the past couple years because of their quality and ability.

I like to look at who got the better slot configuration this changes from board to board and one maybe more limiting than the other
one shared with usb
