The X is better in terms of expansion, but in over performance (specifically for gaming) which is better? or are they equal?

The motherboard makes almost no difference in performance, so they're equal.

I went with the MSI Gaming 5 after my ASRock z97 failed on me..twice.

yes ...yes it is lol. Kinda made me hate ASRock. Iv always been an ASUS and MSI fan.
