assassin creed syndicate , i can only attack with fist ?

why cant i attack someone with my knife ? i dont mean throwing knife , just attacking them with knife ? everytime i left click my character attacks with fist ?

Esc, Inventory, Weapons, scroll to desired weapon, Equip.

The only weapons you can switch to in game are the tools (pistol, throwing knives, smoke bomb, voltaic bomb). The Kukuri, Cane Sword and Brass Knuckles have to be equipped as I said above.
