Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Lagging Horribly

Hello,
I have recently been replaying all of the Assassin's Creed games in anticipation of AC3 but I just started Brotherhood & I am having horrible FPS drops on more than capable hardware & when I lower the graphics settings it seems to have little to no effect..

i7-3820 CPU
Sabertooth x79 Motherboard
VTX 3D Radeon HD 7950 (3GB)
Patriot 120GB SSD III
Antec 850W High Current Pro Modular PSU
Noctua NH-D14 Cooler
16GB Ballistix Elite Memory
Windows 7 Home Premium x64

I would apreciate any solutions you may have.

I didn't mean FPS drops, I'm getting around 100-130 FPS the game just lags though (it's not monitor tearing).

40-60 FPS maxed out with VSync on.

Is there any updates for the game and are your graphics drivers up to date?
I played assassins creed brotherhood on a AMD FX4100 and an AMD 7850 smoothly with no problems at all so i'm guessing maybe it's a software problem.
What do you have running in the background when you play the games?
What anti virus are you using? I once had a problem with a game and had to disable my anti virus to get it to run smoothly but that was years ago.

I did a re-install of the game earlier & now everything's working perfectly.
