This is, unfortunately, how corporations deal with these kinds of situations. It's demeaning. Gone are the days you actually sit down and speak to your manager and/or the director of human resources... That's perhaps no less painful, but at least you are face to face with someone, not unceremoniously escorted out of the building like a criminal.

Wow... this is so distasteful. The man creates one of the most successful (sale-wise) new IP of the last generation and this is the thanks that he gets from Ubisoft? I hope Mr. Desilets finds his footing with a company that appreciates his work.

Yeah, a company that's aiming for money should totally cease to exist. Filthy money grubbing people/s

Name one publisher that isn't in it for the money, aside from valve.

@athulajp Its not that they shouldnt be making money. Its that the ONLY THING they care about is making money. They dont give a damn about their customers as long as they make a buck.

Referring to their workforce as "renowned" and then having one of them escorted out of the building by guards. You've just got to laugh at the blatant hypocrisy of it all.

why would would ubisoft fire the man solely responsible for their success this last generation? Assassins Creed is the only real game that made ubisoft stand out these last years. my guess is that ubisoft wanted him and his studio to drop their new game and work on assassins creed... again. and he didnt want that. hopefully the guy wins his day in court and gets his new game back. being unceremoniously fired that way was a very VERY stupid decision by ubisoft.

That reminds me to NOT buy any Ubisoft games, but download them instead.
P.S. I don't give a rat's ass what you think, so don't bother replying to me with that whole anti piracy crap and how piracy affects this and that.

"Only for the money" was what you quoted, but you left out the word "only" in your response.

Activision, EA and Ubisoft are all "Only in it for the money" it seems, as they don't care about the products they are releasing or their customers. They have constantly chosen to use practices hated by the community. Sadly these companies have purchased or are distribution for almost all the big developers.

Most companies don't, the reason they act like they do care is so people don't stop buying from them

Hopefully Patrice will get all disgruntled, and start a crowdfunded project through kickstarter or something. That way we can enjoy his work, without having to deal with the extra bullshit that you have to bite into when purchasing a game from Ubisoft.

This seems vindictive.
That said, being escorted out by guards is a GOOD thing. It covers your butt if something goes wrong shortly after you leave. People do some stupid petty $hit when they get let go, justified or not. SOP is to lock out your computer account BEFORE you are notified (Nothing on that computer or network belongs to you so you have no right to it anyway) and have guards escort you around as you take personal items, clean your desk/area, etc..
It's better than putting your faith in the good will of someone who is no longer obligated to listen to you, and is probably in a bad emotional state. If even 1 in 100k people did something crazy, how many computer network crashes or even burnt down office buildings would there be?

Ah, but I will! Pirating the game is sending them a message that they made a game that people want to play, but don't want to pay for it. Just don't pirate and don't buy the game. If they make a game and it gets a really low volume of sales and low volume of piracy, it tells them instead that their game is so bad people don't even want to play it for FREE.
