I know this is a demanding game but I just got the GTX 960 and I have everything on high but only at 1080p I'm hitting the 2 GB barrier already. Is this normal? It runs at 60ish fps but it's not the smoothest. Is this the trend modern games are going towards? I feel like I should've gotten the GTX 970 now if this is the trend in still in my return window with amazon.

if you have the money to return it and get a 970 or 980 it may be worth it if you really want that extra vram and more power... it is true that 2 gigs of vram cant max out all games... 2 gigs is pretty much the standard today... if you really feel the need to run at higher settings smoothly then go for it... also how many games hit the 2 gig mark? do you play the more intensive games that stress the 960's vram a lot? if so its worth it... if its like 1 game i would stick with th 960...

Good point. I'll try the other games but I'm actually in the process of upgrading my CPU now to an Intel i5 maybe that'll help with the frame drops in my other games as well they can be tough on the amd fx. Good thing is I can upgrade the GPU later if i I need not that I'll have an i5. I think I'll stick with this for now. Gtx 970 is considerably more money.

Actually there are games that hit 4GB mark even at 1080p, though those are rare.

2GB at this day and age is what I could consider minimum, but even then it's cutting it too close. 4GB is the sweetspot for vast majority of games currently available.
