Assign letter disk

I just installed an ssd to my computer. It shows up in bios and in disk management. I initialized the disk but can't assign it a letter. I read another thread saying it won't show until it has a letter. However the option to assign doesn't come up, it only asks to convert the disk to two other formats

Just out of curiosity...

1. Why have you installed a SSD in your PC? Are you planning to utilize that drive as a SECONDARY drive in your system?

2. Or were you planning to utilize that SSD as your boot drive? Perhaps cloning the contents of the system's present boot drive to the SSD?

3. Or were you just planning to fresh-install an OS onto the SSD?

Eventually I will make it my boot disk but I have a few games I was going to throw in there right now

So for the moment the SSD will be a secondary drive in your system. That being the case, assuming the drive has been properly initialized, have you attempted to partition & format the drive in Disk Management? Any problems?
