Assistance with 2hdds with OEM Windows and 1 SSd with retail windows.

Toshiba 750gb pre imaged with oem windows from a laptop but I have tried to wipe it I will explain
2 tb Toshiba pre imaged with oem windows same as above
SS pro 128 up and running with windows 8.1 - I have read 8 is a while different ball game?
Wobbly Heatsink CM t4 it has a weak strap for the am3+ socket 942
12gb Kingston oem ram
600w evga psu

Ok so with Asus you want to have an ahci setup in order to boot from what I gather. My issue is when I connect the other 2 HDDS that were formerly in oem computers that I have formatted and I am still having issues creating the correct partitions in order to either use them as a 3 disk raid 0 or storage either or will be fine.

Someone who can give me a complete walk through not just a link with scattered instructions I would really appreciate. Right now I have the SSd running everything but when I hook up any other of the hdds I get a bsod or crash EVEN though I have wiped them from the cmd screen.

What do I do?

RAID 0 requires an even number of drives, and all drives to be the same size.

Ok what about just as storage?
How do I format them for that. Or even raid 1 or 5. 128gb is not enough space and I have almost 3 tb sitting here

Just format the drives, and they should show up as e.g. D:\ and E:\.

If windows is having trouble with this, download a GParted ISO and burn it to a disk.

I'm gonna try it now but ya O have formatted them you are most likely right it is windows kicking em back conflicting etc. So Ill get back to you and I can not say how much this helps. Thanks

How to get GParted Live: http://gparted.org/livecd.php

Then make sure you're on the right drive (NOT your SSD), go to Device>Create Partition Table. Then make a new partition, NTFS, filling the whole drive. Do that for both.

Cool so neat. Would you page file some of the 2tb disk I have or would that not help much.? And if so, for background ops or applications?

Page file is virtual memory... usually you can't easily configure what it's used for.

Leave it at defaults.
