Asus 660ti overheating problem still an issue?

I've decided on getting either an EVGA or Asus 660ti and one thing that's been mentioned in multiple reviews on newegg at least is an overheating problem. This requires a reapplication of the thermal paste, but unfortunately voids the warranty.

So my question is if there has been any statement or something in regards to the problem. Because I'd rather not have to be forced to do this on a card I just purchased.

Edit: The EVGA card is having a sale that ends today and I'd like to get this settled before then if possible.

I am running a new pair of asus gtx 660ti's, they are eefffin great. I hate posting in here about them!! because all you will hear is, you should by a 670/680 or AMD Bla Bla Bla. You really cant ask a ?" on these forums and get a answer, all you really get is them telling you what they think you should buy. I have no over heating probs at all!!! but I can tell you when I'm only running one card maxed out 62c to 65c is as hot as it will get. but when I run both in sli maxed I'm running about 70c to 72c. I cant believe how these cards run, right now I'm running a 39inch 1920/1080p crysis2 at 190 to 200fps. I will be going triple 39in nividia surround soon and 3wy sli. I know that I don't need to go 3wy but for the price and great performance why the hell not. Or it just could be that I like stepping on the big cards and the big wallets with these little 660ti's ha ha ha. just playin!!!. ps. I will bet that the ones saying that they have overheating probs dont have the right air flow in there case in the the fist place.. because when I researched it only heard how cool they ran never hearing any thing about overheating. hope this help's

I believe that the evga is a blower type fan, I personally would not buy evga. what mobo are you running. I would go with (well) what I bought asus. my next would be MSI power edition. but please you only know what you want go with what your gut tells you to.or these guy's will have you buying AMD before you know it..lol
