I have a 68u running 380_3264 and I have the same problems like I was having with the ac3200 router. I am starting to have wireless disconnects and interruptions and I have to reboot the router on a daily basis to clear any issues. I have all of the devices connected to the 2.4 band. I didn't have any problems after I bought the router and turned it on and started adding devices to it. Slowly I started to enable features like Aiprotection (parental control), Traffic analyzer, Firewall (URL and Keyword filters) and Adaptive QoS (bandwidth monitor). Over time, I started to see issues where I was rebooting the router if I can't download an App from the App Store.
My problem with this router like I had with the 3200 is very simple, I get the STOPPED ( err = 9006) and wireless interruption message on my Mac Mini. What I am doing is very simple, I go into iTunes and download iOS apps. Again, I can surf the internet on my computer but I can't download an iOS app. On my iPad, I can surf the internet but I can't download an iOS app.
I never have any issues surfing the internet or streaming a Youtube video. The issue that I have now and like I did with the 3200 router, the Asus router doesn't play nice with Apple devices or computers. Specifically, I am talking about iPhones and iPods and Mac desktops, basically anything Apple. I know the problem is with the Asus router and I know it is not the channel interference or conflicts with my neighbors wireless. I have ZERO problems with a Linksys router. The Linksys router and Apple devices, just work. There is no glitches or interruptions or interference of any kind. I can download 20 apps if I feel like it and I get ZERO errors. On the Linksys router, I don't change anything or adjust the channels. This router just works out of the box.
I can't pinpoint the issue with Asus router but I know it is the router. When I was using the 3200, I tried Asus stock firmware and Merlin. In fact, I tried multiple stock firmware versions and it was suggested to me that I try Merlin's version 378.56 because it was stable. With the 3200 router, it didn't matter which firmware I used, nothing fixed the issues. I still was getting error messages. I gave up and went back to using the Linksys router. Now I returned to the 68u, thinking that maybe the 68u is a different model with different hardware and I will not have the same problems like I did with the 32oo model.
It is hard for me to believe that I would be facing the same problems with two different Asus routers. I like the Asus routers for its features which is better than Linksys. However, Linksys seems to be more stable than both Asus routers.
Is there a feature that is causing the router to become unstable?
