Unfortunaly this is true.
This is my PC: AMD TB 1000@1200, abit kK7Ta (bios kt7wz), Guillemot TNT2 Ultra 32Mb (Detonator6.50) DirectX 8, HD IBM 30Gb 7200rpm, S.B. Live, monitor Hyundai DeluxScan 17 Pro 1024*768 85Hx.
I decided to by a Asus 7700 GTS Pure 32Mb, once I installed it I was proud of my new vga card, but after one hour my win 98 Windows become a 4cm. Large vertical strip!
I thought that my monitor was old, so I changed it with an iiyama VisionMaster 500 1200*1024 75Hz connected by a BNC cable.
After another hours also this monitor died!
I reinstalled the TNT2 card very sad, and now I’m using the iiyama by the D-Sub connector.
I found that many people had the same problem, but they cannot help me.
Can you? Please I want use my new card, but I don’t want to change another monitor!!!
Thanks

Older monitors cannot handle the higher refresh rates that newer video cards can provide. You can manually adjust your frequency by right clicking on the desktop, going to properties, then settings, then advanced, then monitor, pick your monitor from the list or use the generic driver for your resolution, then go to adapter an pick a lower frequency. If you are using a Plug and Play monitor, you can select "Autodetect Plug and Play monitors" from the monitor menu.

Hi Crashman,
i'm sure that I configured my monitor whith the right settings (model, refresh and resolution [both of them]),
but they had the samo "little problem"

I think I had the same problem, but its not the graphics card, its your monitor. Some monitors simply dont keep what they promise, so you have to actually run them below specifications. I had this problem with an 15" MAG about 4 years ago. I had to step down from 75 to 72 hz, then it worked fine. I know many that use Asus graphics adapters, and I have had 4 myself, never heard of any problems with them. I believe the Iiyama has another name in europe for some reason.
