[SOLVED] Asus 85m-g does not work with an i7 :(

hello, i recently had an i7 4790s left over and wanted to upgrade my little brother's pc. in the pc is an i5 4570, B85M-G 16gb ram, gtx 1660 super, corsair sf450. the i7 4790s worked in an askrock b85m. I've tried all bios versions on the asus board (2000-3000) but it doesn't work, does anyone know why?

It’s been supported since BIOS 0904.

• Did you verify that BIOS version or later is installed?
• You can also try a CMOS reset.

Otherwise, has the CPU been sitting around? Maybe it got damaged.

Well it should just pop in and work. No further setup necessary. As the BIOS is already updated. Since the i5 works. I’d say something is wrong with the i7.
