I put in a order today for new system and 2 of the items i had ordered was BFG 8800GTS OC 512mb but they called me up and informed me that they no longer have that card, and they cant order it because its discontinued. They did however suggest that they could replace the 2 BFG 8800GTS OC for 2 ASUS 8800GTS 512(which from what i see has slightly lower GPU speed).

Now my question is, is the asus 8800GTS 512 good? its core speed shows 25mhz slower than the BFG version, memory is also 10mhz slower as well over the BFG.

well, from my experience ASUS is usually expensive, but OC-wise, you can probably get the same thing by doing a mild OC to the cards... Can't you get eVGA, XFX, etc?

the site im ordering from only carries ASUS or BFG for nvidia cards. And ASUS/Sapphire for ati cards. And it was kind of a kick in the balls i really wanted the BFG 8800GTS OC 512, it was really good in reviews that i had read and i was really set on getting 2 in sli.

Ask them for the BFG ones....they have been known to last longer than asus and prob has a better warranty. Most of the time BFG costs the most money out of any card.

Overclocking the GTS is as easy as moving the little arrow up a few notches. I bought my GTS stock and sits at 750/1000 with no issues. I had it to 775 and 800 but got artifacts at 800 so i backed it to 750 with no issues what so ever. The over clock cards don't usually go any higher than 700 anyways. Is there any other site you can order from if you get your money back?

I got tow of these ... don't forget one thing OC's card is manufacture oced, the give higher gpu and/or mem speed. you can do the same with smart doctor with your asus. there is one thing, the cooling part in the Asus card is a little bit more efficient then the other.I oced mine from 650mgz to 710 for the gpu an th ememory from 970mgz to 1050mgz. It's stable since 2 month for now. Just need good ventilation in your case
