Asus 970 Stix or 980

here in June i am going to buy a new gaming desktop. first i was thinking about buying the Asus 970 Strix and then mabye another half a year to a year later. or i could go over budget and buy the 980 wich is 112 usd more compared to the 450 usd exstra i would spend in the furture. my question is the 980 worth the price compared to the performance or would the 970 be a better "bang for the buck".

970 wins the "bang for buck" portion. It's up to you if the 70% price increase is worth the 15-20% performance increase.

If I were you, I'd buy the 970 then add another for SLI sometime down the road, like you mentioned above.
