ASUS 9800 pro worth it?

I'm in the market for a 9800 pro. Is this worth the extra $100?

God I don't know how many times this question has been answered!!

NOOO!! IT's not worth it!! The EXTRA 128mb of ram doesn't help that gen of card in ANY WAY!!

Check the VGA guide and you will see what a waste of money the +128Mb would be.

Not only is the extra RAM not worth it, but ASUS cards are usually undervolted (mine is--I bought mine for another reason other than the RAM [and I got a good deal]), limiting OCing (the cooler is good, however). I flashed to XT and after running 3DMark03 (or any other game/benchmark) my card is only slightly warm to the touch but snowing like a mofo. My RAM does OC very well (at least 385MHz being artifact free, which is not bad for Hynix 2.5ns [likely also undervolted]), however.

That reminds me...does anybody know of a pencil graphite vmod for the 9800Pro (like the über-easy X800's mod)? I'll be adding a much better cooler in the coming weeks and I would actually like to use it (as I said, my core is undervolted)

It might be worth it if it has the VIVO . That is a cool feature found on some asus ati cards.

For $239 you can buy the HIS 9800Pro IceQ at NewEgg. It's under High Tech.

ASUS uses their own boards for the 9800Pro and 9800XT...their Pros are just their failed XTs (yet mine runs suspiciously cool at XT speeds).
