I assume that the AMD 761 Chipset newer than the AMD 760 Chipset.
Is this true?
Some Motherbaords have the AMD 761 Chipset, and others have the AMD 760 Chipset.
Would you go with the following?
ASUS A7A266 - ALiMajik Chipset - The Worse of the three chipsets?
ASUS A7M266 - AMD760 Chipset - The Best?
ASUS A7V133 - KT133 Chipset - Average?

Which Motherboard or another brand?

761 is just the name of the Northbridge on the 760 chipset (which consists of both North and South bridge)

i would rate them as follows:
ASUS A7A266 - ALiMajik Chipset - The Best
-- best one for stability, be it a bit slower but its stable than even AMD and much more than VIA. a ~5% performance hit is acceptable for the stability it offers, plus the SDR/DDR flexibility and 266MHz FSB support and its overclockability.

ASUS A7M266 - AMD760 Chipset - Good
-- best one in DDR only group

ASUS A7V133 - KT133 Chipset - The Worse of the three chipsets
-- highly overclockable, but worst on performance, especially on the IDE (agreed thats the southbridge 686A/B, but its memory performance is not too good). not much better than KT133. i have used both, and now opted for the Magik.

I can talk only about Asus since we dont too many brands in India.

A7A266 gives about 2-3% lower performance than the AMD761/VIA 686B combo used on most 760 mobos, and is more stable with fewer (perhaps zero?) PCI compatability issues.
