please help me. I have:
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe, 2x512MB DDR 400 Samsung, Ati Radeon 9500Pro, SB Live 5.1, 2x Maxtor 80GB SATA. i tryed to install Win XP but after i put the drivers for SATA from floppy installation just stops after "Windows is starting" or domething like that in the lower left corner. I also tryed to put the clean install of the WinXP with ghost image I have and if i try to boot in normal or safe mode it just blocks just before showing the boot picture for the first time. i tryed to flash the newest bios (1008), other memory modules, other graphic card (GeForce2), and i also tryed to dissconnect all unnesecary devices and PCI cards (CD-Roms, sound card,...). nothing helps. i tryed to change the mem timings to lowest. thanks.

P.S. i tryed all this with running HDDs in RAID 0 and in normal operation.

return that board...get something else other than Asus. Asus quality is not very high right now...

-Always put the blame on you first, then on the hardware !!!

Don't throw your board away just yet!
Don't know if you tried this but here it goes:
New XP installation: Make sure the SATA jumpers are in the proper position. In the BIOS, set First Boot Device as CDROM to boot from XP CD. Shortly after POST, when prompted, press F4 to enter SATA configuration. Set your partitions and exit. Proceed with XP installation (Do not use quick format, use the complete format). Upon next reboot, enter BIOS to set First Boot Device as SCSI. You should be all set then.
Worked for me with A7N8X-Deluxe.

i tryed like that but it didn't help. but in the meentime we solwed the problem. we had to disable ACPI function in BIOS. i'm not quite shure what it does but i heard that it has something to do with sharing irq-s. is that throu. bye.
