That is strange - I have an a7n8x-x with an unlocked XP2800+ and in the
year I've owned it, it has consistently refused to even sniff at 200MHz
FSB with any BIOS version from Asus, at any clock multiplier, and I have
had years of fun in the past with overclocking, so the principal is
familiar to me.
However, I downloaded 1010-xmod2_2t two days ago, flashed it, and the
system was immediately happy at 10.5x200, std voltages.
(I must mention a couple of niggles though - the F1 key would not exit
Awdflash after the successful flash. On Reset, the system booted but
power-cycled during POST. Clearing CMOS sorted that and it then booted
normally and has behaved fine since)
My system has now been running for 24 hours at 11x200MHz and is fine,
with Prime95 purring. (I keep P95 running permanently as a matter of
course, with whatever system is going - it is a very good indicator of
long-term stability).
There is something in it and it has transformed my system, but don't ask
me why!
🙂
