I got my hands on the mobo in the subject line. I'm just curious if it's worth going straight to the A10-8350k or save a few bucks and go with the 7700k?

Also I found some PNY memory cheap and have freakin Best Buy money to spend (link below). Anyone have any experience with PNY xlr-8 memory? I need to stay 2133 or higher with these A10s.

(I'm not interested in Intel talk - I want to just make a build around this mobo)

Thanks!

That's a top of the line board for that platform. I'd go straight to the best APU. If you are going to use a discrete gfx card, get the Athlon X4 860K instead. Same CPU w/o an on-die GPU adding to the heat.

Now we're getting somewhere. I was trying to figure out if there was a CPU that I could plop in there. I read some reviews and even adding an R7 250x in crossfire generally won't compete with the same setup and using a R7 260x discretely.

Well, I was looking at the R9 270x and they can be had for around $185. Seems like a pretty good bang for the buck solution. Particularly if I only went with the X4.

I wish they would build some muscle for the FM2+.

One of my other machines is a Athlon x4 860K @ 4.2 GHz and a GTX 960 FTW. Together they make a really nice budget gaming rig. I have some recorded benchmarks I can post, but it will have to be later tonight. I'm about to head out right now.

Btw, the 270X and the 860K would make a nice rig. Very evenly matched.

Yeah, that board deserbes either the highest end apu or the athlon and overclock it like crazy. Getting that and a dedicated gpu will give u a better experience and then the ram speed isnt an issue. Also crossfire or the hybrid crossfire that the 250 and apu do isnt the best solution, it sounds cool on paper but it doesnt scale well or some games dont support crossfire well.

The fm2 athlons are cheap compared to the highest 7850k apu, so u can easily thru in a nice gpu. There also fairly strong cpus, and get the job done but i would agree something a little stronger would be nice, even if they tried taking the fx6300 core into an apu would be great

There is no processor called an A10-8350K. The 8350 is an FX processor. Do you mean the A10-7850K?
