I bet your using a USB keyboard, some older motherboards will not detect a USB keyboard till its set to in the motherboards BIOS. What its doing is haulting the boot process because the system doesn't detect a keyboard connected to it. A PS/2 style keyboard would correct this and allow you to get into the BIOS and make the change. The new boards have the BIOS set to detect a USB keyboard and some have eliminated the PS/2 connection all together. Now if you are using a PS/2 keyboard and can't get into the BIOS it could be a faulty keyboard or the plug on the motherboard has gone bad.

Edit: I'll add that since it worked the day before, it could be your battery on the board is going bad. When the battery goes bad its like resetting CMOS and you could have lost the setting in your BIOS to detect a USB keyboard on boot-up.
