hi,
I'm using win xp pro on my asus a8v with 3 GB PC3200 RAM, AMD athlon 64 3000+ (no overclock), and ati radeon 9550 / x1050 series AGP 256 MB.
I upgraded from some 128 MB PCI VGA to this AGP, and changed the AGP size from the bios to 256 MB.
but every now and then, the PC freezed or rebooted.
nowadays it reboots also on whim. I tried to select the default settings on the bios, with only the AGP size selected as 256 MB.
my bios is American Megatrends Inc. version 0216 date 09/12/2005.
do I need to make any changes on the bios, maybe related to the AGP size?? or anything I need to do/CAN/SHOULD do to improve the performance/prevent rebooting/crashing???
I have no experience in flashing the bios, though I could do it with a walkthrough.
any help appreciated!!

Try clearing the CMOS, instructions in the mobo or computer manual. If that doesn't do it, check your RAM. If you have 2 sticks, try one. Run memtest, a free download. Try a different PSU.

Make sure cool and quiet is turned off for this motherboard. (Random lock-ups with it enabled)

You do not need to update the bios as your cpu supported fine.

AGP size is OK at 64MB or 128...

You could try with only 2 gigs of ram instead of 3 if you stil get errors.
