Asus A8V Suspend Problem

Yesterday I installed my new Asus A8V Deluxe MB, and made sure that suspend, etc. was enabled in the BIOS. Then, after installing Windows XP, I noticed I was unable to use Suspend and/or Hibernate mode on my desktop. I installed SP2, hoping that things would get better, but outcome was unchanged.

I'm about at my wits end as to why I'm unable to Suspend the system. My old Asus board running Windows 2000 worked, so I know that my power supply is compliant and works properly. I've gone thru just about every Power option I can think of...

Any suggestions on a fix would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Yes, definitely. The 4.51V drivers were supplied on the CD that came with the motherboard. The ones on Asus' web site didn't seem newer, so I stuck with the ones that came on the CD.

Although I don't know if this will help with your current situation, but did you format and re-install when you replaced the mobo?? I only ask, because it sounds like you may not have?

Yes, everything was a complete new load. New motherboard, new processor, new video, new OS load. That's why I found it so odd that I didn't get any Suspend/Hibernate support from XP. Still looking for an answer, but haven't found it yet.

Thanks for any continued suggestions. I know others have to have an A8V and have seen something similar. Please don't tell me I'm the only one!

Unfortunately, from everything I've been able to find, I should have a tab for Hibernate in the Power Settings Control Panel. I get no such option, and holding Shift down while selecting ShutDown doesn't give me the Hibernate option either. I'm absolutely baffled as to why my ACPI functions don't seem to be....

Well, it ended up that it was the video driver, or the lack thereof. My original GeForce 6800 GT video card was DOA, so I stuck in an older Matrox card, but didn't install specific drivers for it (didn't want to muddy the install). After the replacement card arrived and was installed, I added the appropriate drivers for the video card, and Hibernate/Suspend were suddenly options...

Thanks for clearing up the problem. So often people post problems, try to get solutions then never inform us of how or if they were resolved. Glad your rig is "running right".
