I am getting ready to do a new build that I plan to overclock. In preparation, I am just starting to play with Asus AI Suite 3. The computer I am using for now is a work computer that I use every day which is stable and runs fine. I am playing around with AI Suite 3 on this machine to familiarize myself with the over clocking capabilities of the program which I plan to use for a new build I am doing.

This system is basically an I7 5820K running in an Asus X99-Deluxe with 16GB of DDR4 RAM. I installed AI Suite 3 and it starts OK. I tried to run Fan Expert 3 just to check it out before trying 5-way optimization. When I select Fan Auto Tuning, I get a confirmation box that says “Do you want to continue?” I click YES and get the following error. “Access Violation at address 04C4D*D4 in module ‘dip4.dll’. Read of address FFFFFFF7”. I can click OK in that box and then the error box disappears. After that, AI3 just sits there and does nothing. Clicking STOP gives me the same error message. I can’t go back to the main AI Suite 3 menu. I can’t do anything in AI Suite 3 except exit the program. When I restart it, it comes up OK but does the same thing again. I have tried rebooting and uninstalling and reinstalling AI Suite 3.

After failing with Fan Auto Tuning, I went ahead and ran 5-way optimization (Fast). The system immediately went into shutdown – not a crash – Windows 7 doing an orderly shutdown. After it rebooted, I had to log in. AI Suite 3 does not start to run. If I try to start the program again manually, I get the following 2 errors -

Dipawaymode – The remote procedure call failed. A few seconds after that I get the second error – Aisuite3 – The remote procedure call failed. I can click OK in each error box and they disappear. AI Suite 3 does not appear in the task bar – I don’t think it loaded. If I try to start it again, I immediately get the second error – Aisuite3 – The remote procedure call failed. That is all it will do until I uninstall and reinstall it.

This computer has a lot of programs loaded on it and a lot of things that run in the tack bar. I shut all of them down that I could before I tried the 5-way optimization, if that means anything.

Thanks for any advice !!

Thanks for your response. The first time I installed it, Fan Expert did run. When I tried to run 5-way, the computer rebooted and AI would not run after that. I did an uninstall and reinstall. Then even Fan Expert would not run and I would get the errors I described above. I have been reading up and it seems that the Asus uninstaller leaves garbage behind. They have an uninstall clean up utility you can download from the ROG forum. I have not tried that yet.

Someone on another thread has stated that AI may not run on Win7. I have not found any other statements to that affect. That guy said upgrade to Win10 because its better, 7 is outdated etc. Well I don't know about that. I "upgraded" to Win10 on my home computer and have had nothing but problems - slow, mail problems, Windows Defender problems, etc. I am not liking Win10 so far. I can't upgrade the "test" computer I am trying this on anyway as it is a work computer and our IT guy would frown on me changing the OS.

I am going to try running the Asus uninstall cleanup utility (kind of pathetic that this even exists) and try a fresh install. The new build I am preparing for will likely be WIN10...

Thanks Again !

No problem. BTW...On your home computer, if you upgraded WITHOUT doing a clean install afterward then that's why your having all these issues. Once you do a clean install, windows 10 runs like a champ.

I'm glad that you mentioned windows 7...Now that I think about it, all the issues I had with AI suite 3 were when I had windows 8.1 installed. Now that I've been using windows 10 for a year, I've had no issues with the AI suite.

Yeah I did not do a clean install. I let Microsoft do the in place upgrade. I have read in a bunch of places that you really need to do a clean install of it. I have the Win10 ISO file so when I do the new build, I will load 10 on it from the ISO. Then I want to OC it until the max I can get that is stable. The jury is out on AI-3 but I am hoping I can let it set a fairly conservative overclock for everyday use and a more aggressive one for gaming, 3-D CAD, and 3-D graphics work. I opted for an I7-5820K as I wanted those extra cores and threads for 3-D work. I wish I could have afforded a 40-lane CPU as I am going to be juggling PCIe lanes.

Anyway, once the new build is up and running, I will wipe my current machine and do a W10 clean install. I can vouch for it not running well, at least for me, when doing the in place upgrade.

UPDATE - I ran the Asus cleanup utility, rebooted, and am trying to install AI-3 again (on the W7 machine). I tell it to run and nothing happens at all. I can see a process for it in Task Manager but nothing is happening at all. It is not installing. I think I may give up on trying it on this W7 machine and just wait until the new build is up and running. I still don't get why it won't runor run properly on W7. I can't find anything about an OS limitation for AI-3.

Thanks !
