I updated my system with a new motherboard and Windows 10, and I tried to install Asus AI Suite 3. I was under the impression that it would overwrite Suite 2, but it didn't. I had a terrible time trying to get all of it installed and ccleaner, but it ended up with some issues so I'm doing a Win 10 clean install instead.

I had no idea about the bad reviews from so many people on AI Suite 2. Is Suite 3 a bit of the same? Are there some components that I should install from the Asus installation disc/website and others I shouldn't? Should I use Piriform Speccy (heard someone mention that online)? I won't be overclocking much, but I run pretty intensive applications and want to be sure of my CPU temp.

Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

Yea that is one good thing about the Asus stuff. The junk is in the Utilities section. Don't need the RAID driver unless doing RAID obviously.

Instead of AI Suite 3? Nothing right now. The Intel Extreme Tuning Utility is quite accurate when it comes to monitoring CPU temp but it is more of an Overclocking tool. There is also RealTemp, it hasn't been updated in ages though so no clue if it works with your CPU. SpeedFan is an old classic.
I have an Asus Z97-E and I found AI Suite III to be all but useless. As example it reads off the wrong sensor for the CPU with my board, the monitoring was the only thing it is good for and it can't even do that properly. Pretty much a total waste of disk space, and you seen what happens when something goes slightly wrong with it.

Just install the drivers. No need to install the extra bloat. What motherboard are you speaking of anyway?

What do you use instead of AI Suite 3? What are some options out there?

Looking at what isn't extra bloat...http://

...seems like the only extras are in Utilities, and I never used USB 3.1 boost, don't know what Turbo LAN is about...anything else I'm missing?

Just went through that around Christmas. When you finish the OS put your motherboard disk in but don't run install all. You should hit the option to open file to view contents. With that open install the intel chipset driver, Or AMD, Realtec audio driver, sata controller driver and the intel Lan driver for starters. I also installed the Realtec Lan driver afterwards. Those should get you onto the internet for updates. Other items on the disk can be installed as needed.

Sorry to hear about your time/pain too in going through that nonsense. Thank you though for outlining this for me, I appreciate your time!

Thank you for your answers! I am looking at Intel Extreme Tuning...I do want to clock my CPU up a little bit (it's the i7 5960x) as I've read a lot of people clocking it from 3 to 3.5. I have to spend more time though researching how to do that.
