Hi all,
I've been having trouble getting my ASUS Z170 - AR to post to my monitor. I get the green pwr led on the motherboard, but when I press the onboard power switch, I only get the power supply fan going, but there is no output to display, no fans move, no light on my cpu cooler, nothing if a usb device is plugged in. I recently contacted my supplier and they said it is probably a faulty motherboard, which I think is pretty likely but I want to be sure of it first. I don't want to be out of a pc for a month for a motherboard that mightn't be broken.

My specs:
Intel i7 6700K
16 GB Kingston HyperX ram
the AR motherboardE
VGA supernova 750 (80+ gold)
Corsair h100i liquid cooler>

Any suggestions or advice would be extremely appreciated.

Check if the motherboard connector is perfectly seated in,if PSU fan is running it's not dead ofcourse, but it can't be concidered as a perfectly fine unit too for now,if you can check you PC with any other PSU and see if anything changes, before sending your board.

Try a cmos reset,
1. Remove power to psu, unplug it from the wall
2. Remove the cmos battery from the mobo, looks like a watch battery
3. Hold the power button for 15 seconds solid, very important
4. Reinsert the cmos battery
5. Plug in psu and try to turn on your pc

Let me know your results

Make sure your ram is ddr4 aswell and in the right configuration, it may be better to try and boot after removing 1 stick at a time after the cmos reset and trying to boot.

Does the battery just pop out or are there screws or something?

Just being extremely careful at this time.

Ok did the battery, but still nothing.

it just pops right out

Do you have another motherboard? if so please take the CMOS battery from that board and replace the one you have in yours. Also do you have all the switches positioned correctly

And last but not least, MAKE SURE the power is going to the mobo, you have the 24 connected tight, and the 8 connected tight. make sure your boot drive is connected, and take out all your ram but 1, place this ram in slot a2. after all this is done
Remove the plug from the wall on your PSU, Take out the cmos battery(the new one), hold the power button for 15 seconds solid, very important and also short the jumpers for cmos

After all of this is done, plug everything back in, and Boot your computer, while booting keep pressing DEL.
It has to be done exactly as stated.

Also please identify which LEDS are the ones that are light up using this picture as a reference
