This Christmas, I'm planning on getting a ASUS ROG STRIZ B450-F Motherboard. My current CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600. When I used PC Part Picker to choose this MOBO I noticed that I saw the same compatibility error I had when upgrading my Old CPU to the one I have now. I have to update the BIOS in order for my 3rd Gen Ryzen CPU to work with the B450-F MOBO. However, I've seen some forums which say that this B450-F MOBO works with third gen Ryzen out of the box (No BIOS update required) because ASUS sends their motherboards with the latest BIOS installed. Is it true that the ASUS ROG STRIZ B450-F MOBO will work out of the box with third gen Ryzen CPUs (Ryzen 5 3600) or should I expect to have to update the BIOS?

Solution
So long as the box for the motherboard with a B450 or other) chipset has a label that says Ryzen 3000 series supported, means that the board will accept a 3000 series processor or APU out of the box, sans any BIOS update, i.e, the BIOS is updated from the factory.

I'm pretty much sure any B450 chipsetted motherboard that you're going to buy will not be from stock from yester years. Rather the lasted stock with the latest BIOS version.

I agree with Lutfij.

I bought an Asus ROG Strix X470-F in October 2019 for my 3700x build and it already had the Ryzen 3000 sticker and a Ryzen 3000 BIOS on it.

So a New B450-F should support the Ryzen 3000 CPUs out of the box as long as it hasn't been sitting on a shelf for a year or more.

I assumed this was the case, but I just wanted to double check. Thank you so much!
