Hi,
got a bit of a problem with a new build PC.

Its an Asus b660 along with i9-1200k cpu, 2x16G ram, 1tb m2 ssd, and 850 watt psu - all brand new and claimed to be compatible by the vendor.

At power up I get no video and no post beeps. The red CPU led flashes on then off and then the orange ram led flashes on then off and the red cpu comes back on etc.

I've done all the usual stuff, checking the ram is seated ok and different ram sticks, reseated the cpu, cleared the rtc , removed the system ssd etc.

Tried one stick of ram and a different psu.

Using built in gpu but have tried external 750ti gpu just for kicks - still dead.

With no ram installed I do get the long and two short beeps indicating ram problem as you might expect but it is followed by another long beep, so I get long short short long beeps repeating with no ram installed.

Running out of ideas - last resort might be to send it all back to the supplier if I can't sort it but don't like to admit defeat.
Built loads of PC's over the years and never a had a fail until now.

Anyone got any ideas ?

Regards Tim

Hi thanks for the suggestions re parts sepcs etc - but last night just before I went to sleep I had an idea and concluded the reset button must be activated.

So I've just unplgugged the reset button and now it boots ok.
On testing the reset button it is indeed faulty ! QED

Not exactly the combo I'd have looked into...rather a Z series chipset if you were going to pair an i9 unlocked processor with any motherboard. As for your platform, might want to inspect the CPU socket for any bent or broken socket pins. You've mentioned the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the make and model of the PSU in question? How are you cooling that processor? Got a link to the rams you're working with? Lastly, which slots are you populating on the motherboard with those sticks of ram?
