Hello, I got a new whole set of pc components and after putting them together, pc wont boot.
What I got is,
Asus B85-Pro Gamer
This power supply Nexus 850 w : http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/nexus_rx_8500_power_supply_review,4.html
Ram: 1 x 8 Gb kingston Fury hyperX
CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K 3,5 GHz LGA1150
Graphic card : nVidia geforce 960Gtx.
Kingston ssd 256 gt

When I put power on from PSU, red led light emerges from motherboard corner. Its Stand by power led.
I've tried to remove Graphics card, then SSD and boot and always the same. What should I do/try now? Is my PSU damaged or?

Greetings,

Please do try the following. Put out Your motherboard, leave there only one ram module [You have only one, right? :)] and cpu, and try to turn on Your computer. [of course don't forget to power up motherboard rail + cpu rail, please ensure there's a click]. And update the thread.

Leave Your motherboard on a cardboard box from Your motherboard and make sure You're de-electricized [touch a radiator or something that's grounded] before You work with these. Also try to put out CPU and put it back in 5 minutes. Don't leave the pins of CPU socket bare, cover it with genuine cover in the meantime.

Sometimes the piled up static electricity causes issues like this.

So you want my motherboard to only have RAM and CPU and then turn on? Second step is to remove whole motherboard to a cardboard box for example and leave it there for a while and then try again?

I tried yesterday and it didnt work. Still red light is on when I put "ON" in PSU and dont press the power button at all. It doesn't work even if I press power button.

Im now starting to wonder what if its the PSU what's damaged? I got EATX 24 pin on motherboard, then next to CPU a 8 pin plugged cable in. Cpu fan in cpu_fan_1 place and also two cha fans plugged to mobo from case. Then I got USB cable in mobo, power_sw,reset_sw_ hdd led and the other one led also attached to mobo. Or could it be that my nexus 850 W 8 pin does not provide enough power to my motherboard to that 8pin ATX12 ?

I got another 550 W to try with. I'm gonna try today with that PSU. But what if PSU is damaged and its able to send just a little electicity to power up something and mobo realises that it doesnt get enought power and shows red light? Or is it possible that if it's damaged and it destroy other components? Oh and I forgot to mention it did work before my mobo went down. I think i hear very tiny tin tin sound when I powered on. Very light sound. That's why I think could it be PSU. Or if PSU is damaged, it should not send any electicity?

There are in general 3 cases You can encounter with faulty PSU.

1st. Your PSU dies and that's that, this is very rare
2nd. Your PSU is faulty and may/will damage other components, since it can't send stable current to individual rails, it may wreak havoc in Your computer, components, or whole system
3rd. Your PSU is faulty, and can't produce enough juice for Your system, that is underpowered and thus unstable, which is causing crashes, bsods and other errors.

Well I certainly hope that its hasnt damaged other components, because I bouth new mobo, CPU and RAM and used my same 850 nexus PSU. Damn that would make me cry if that happened. Gotta see later today with my another PSU if something goes differently.

I tried my other PSU and didnt work.

Okay it seems like my bios is older in mobo. But that helpdesk page says that it suggest to update bios. It doesn't say that I must do that? So could it really be that mobo doesnt power on because of old bios? Its crazy that if my mobo does not have 0404 bios version

Yes, a BIOS that doesn't support the CPU could cause it not power on. If the BIOS doesn't recognize the CPU, it doesn't know what core voltage to supply and so may just shut down to avoid frying it. Updating the BIOS is optional if what's there supports your CPU, but it's a requirement if it doesn't.

Ubernt - ona probably stupid question, but how's Your cmos battery? I read somewhere that some mobos won't boot up w/o functional cmos battery, which is utterly illogical, but hell, what can You lose? Btw. try to update Your BiOS first. It probably won't work w/o som supported cpu.
