Hello community! I am a new member here but I have always been lurking around in the forums. Today I would like to ask those of you who are willing to help me out. Any help is greatly appreciated. I recently just finished my new rig and she will not boot. I have gone through the checklist that's been provided elsewhere in this forum. I'm currently running;

Asus B85M-E/CSM mobo
Intel i5-4690
Corsair 8GB Ram. 1600Mhz DDR3.
Asus Geforce GTX 970.
Evga 600W PSU.
Kingston 128GB SSD.
LG DVD drive.
Coolermaster N200 Case.

I've gone through all the items in the checklist. Looked at all my power cables making sure they're properly plugged in, and in the correct spots. I should note when I turn on my PSU switch, I see the little red LED light in the bottom on the mobo showing its recieving power and same with my GPU i can see a lilttle white LED. (so that means there is power right?) So once I press the power button, all lights and fans turn on but the second I release the power button. it just turns off. And I've held the power button for about 5 seconds and I can see the lights flickering. This reminds me of trying to start a car with a bad battery and the lights just flicker. I've tried only using 1 stick o ram to get it to start but no luck. Again any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

Yea, my GPU does have the 6 pin + 2 pin for the power supply. I'll try shorting out those two pins you have suggested and give u an update when I can.

yea I got all 6 standoff in the correct places, it confused me a tad bit since this is the first mini atx mobo i've installed but yea I made sure they were in the correct places. Do the bolts holding down the mobo have to be perfectly centered? I got like 1 or 2 slightly off center

I've checked for any damaged pins and from what I can see there's none. I've read in the mobo manual it should be ready to go with 4th gen intel processors.

hmmm...I cant believe I overlooked this. I'll give an update after bios is updated.

Yea, I had brought it back to the PC store I bought all my parts from. No clue why it was defective but I got a replacement mobo and all is good again. Thank you for your help!
