So I just bought this motherboard and the i5 4690 hoping that the new BIOS updates would let me use the refresh CPUS.
I guess not. I first tried to just seat the CPU and see if it would post without a BIOS update (might be that it hadn't been tested) but I got no display, just a black screen. I updated to 2001 with a Celeron G1820 I had lying around, which booted fine and had display and everything. Reseated the i5 but it's the same "issue".
Either I am just unlucky and thats how it's gonna be > Or there is something I haven't checked. I also already wrote to ASUS asking about this. Their newest BIOS update(s) state the following:
B85M-G BIOS 0908 and BIOS updater
1.Improve system stability.
2.Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
*Before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors, we suggest that you first download the BIOS updater for new Intel 4th Gen Core Processors and then update the BIOS using this tool.
B85M-G BIOS 1101 and BIOS updater
Improve System Stability
*Note: Must apply the attached BIOS updater tool first before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors.
B85M-G BIOS 2001
Support Intel® Pentium® Anniversary Edition CPU (G3258).
Also: Check the link: No matter which rev I have of the mobo (I actually don't know, default 1 I guess) - it should still support the 4690 with an update.
One thing I am worried about though, I didn't use the supplied tool to update. I just used ASUS EZ-Tool or whatever it is called and loaded the .cap file.
So.. yeah.. gah -.-
