Well I just built my first gaming rig and have not been able to get both hard drives to show up. I have a Asus Sabertooth z77 motherboard and have an HDD drive and an SSD. When I plug both drives up the SSD drive is the only one that will show up in the EZ mode of the bios but the HDD will show up in advanced mode. Also, when I unplug the SSD, then the HDD shows up. WTF. I installed the operating system on the SSD and the HDD will no show up in windows 8 in my computer so i figure it has to do with something in the bios. My SSD is only 60 gig because all i planned on doing is running the operating system on it. If anyone is familiar with asus bios and has any idea how to resolve this problem please help. Thanks

Have you tried updating BIOS? This is the first thing you always should try doing before anything else, if you see something work incorrectly.

Hmmmm...
Did you tried "Disc Management" and assigning drive letter/importing? That might help.
To go into "Disk Management", right click on the drive or go into devices manager, then see if your HDD is shown there, and try assigning a letter to it and then "import".
"Importing" will transfer the system settings and allow Windows 8 to use the "dynamic disc" by adding information to the registry.
It will not affect any data as long as you don't attempt to convert the drive with data still present.
If your disc is empty, you can convert your "dynamic disc" to a disc of default type and it should appear in your Windows 8 after that.
If that won't help, then....hmmmm...maybe try changing SATA cable or ports? Maybe port got corrupted, or cable was damaged...
Also, some BIOSes have a SATA compatibility mode, either seeing the SATA as IDE, native, or AHCI. Check if you have something like that in your BIOS.
If THAT won't work too...hell, there's still one more option left I'm thinking of...
Boot up your OS, go to "Administrative Tools" ("Control Panel" -> "System & Security"), then "Memory Diagnostic Tools" (or "Windows Memory Diagnostic"). Click it.
It should run a kind of a test and then reboot. After the reboot your HDD should appear just fine.
IF NOT...then..I lose. Windows 8 has defeated me. That's why I don't use it. %)

Alright, now i am having a new problem with the HDD drive. It will now show up under my computer but only shows it has 350 MB when its a 1 TB hard drive that is brand new. I updated the bios, tried the memory diagnostic tool, and still no luck. My SSD drive is completely full with the operating system and my computer is worthless without some hard drive space.
When i go to device manager and got to volumes it say there is 953519 MB of unallocated space. Dont know if that helps. Also in the bios it does have a SATA mode selection with the choices IDE, AHCI, and RAID. It is currently on AHCI.

If you don't have anything crucial on it (like porn, software, games, or etc), format your HDD, man. Completely. To NTFS. Full, Slow Mode. And make it only one, full-piece tome.
It will take a while, but do it. AHCI is fine, this is where it should be at (SSD too). IDE only for legacy drives and RAID only for, duh, multi-drive RAIDs.

If in Disk Management you see a fraction from the actual HDD size, you probably need to format the HDD in GPT while the BIOS is in SATA mode with AHCI. You also need to install Windows 7 or 8 with the BIOS is in AHCI. AHCI will prevent HDD issues and GPT allows large HDD space recognition.

lol... I didn't read your response so no intention to appropriate your information was involved... but that's besides the point... if the info in question helps which I don't doubt, I'll grant you the best answer.
In any case, it may be that he installed Widows 8 under the wrong BIOS setting and formatted te HDD in the wrong mode... both details may have to adressed to solve the problem, starting with the HDD format in GPT, and if necessary install W8 under the right BIOS setting.

Well that's what I meant, that face expresions means disapointment here and directed towards the one you're responding to.. besides I don't seem to have that smiley activated so the only thing I see is the key symbols.. so I don't see the actual expression... but enough of this.. I have it perfectly clear now.
Well I figured it out. For some reason the HDd drive was 99% of unallocated space so I took the easy way and bought a 40$ software that would formate the hard drive. I tried formatting it in windows and it did nothing but the software to care of just wish I didn't have to spend 40$
