Asus CM1730

I just bought a new PC.

This seemed like a pretty good deal for the price and something I could work with. I am wanting to upgrade the GPU to a nividia 560ti I know I will need to upgrade the PSU as well.. I for the life of me can not figure out what the mobo is and if that graphics card is compatible.. also besides the wattage does anyone know how I can tell which PSU to purchase?

Usually graphics cards do not have too many restrictions on the motherboard they can be used with but to be sure i would try to figure out your motherboard type, maybe contact Asus support? Now for the PSU, newegg has a calculator to measure your needed PSU power :http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalc/index.html. For stability you do need a good power supply so take a trusted brand like Corsair (newegg has recommendations after the calculation).

thank you very much for the reply.. from everything I saw It seems like a 600w corsair will do the trick.. I am employed by best buy.. and with my discount.. it helps out tremendously.. Im assuming the case is an atx and with the reviews on this PSU.. I got the CM1730-05 , and am looking around for wattage use because I added a ATI 6870 to it (I now aim a vornado fan at the inside of the case because the graphics card runs hot).. But my APC UPS is registering the wattage use to be nomore than 300 watts.. And I'm wondering if that thing is lying to me. Most of the time it never gets out of the ballpark of 200 watts. BTW I replaced the power supply with a 630 Watt power supply in the expectation that it would need it.

awesome man.. ya man I opted out of the asus with the 6 core phenom and decided to go for the Asus with the I7 3.4, Im really happy with this new machine even though it costs about 500 more.. I upgraded it with the 700 watt corsair PSU, 2 Sctyhe case fans.. that throw about 150cfm(my cpu sounds like a cropduster now)a nividia 560ti msi OC GPU.. even with the piping upgrade still runs about 40c with a load) all in all I might of been able to go with a cheaper option but oh well.. Im a big mmo buff and with the highest settings I run the game "RIFT" with about 42FPS in a raid setting. whats the read out under your AI Suite II? there should be a monitoring option for what wattage it is using .. what GPU are you running?

A phenom and a 6870 will draw about 260 watts . But dont try an run that on a 300 watt psu forever . The psu is working too hard . Better to use 500 watts plus so the psu isnt stressing .

The computer has a pci-e x16 slot so any pci-e graphics card should fit right in BUT check the space available in the case .
Also , what cpu does your computer have ? Even if you can add a really powerful graphics card it might not be worth it if the cpu is a slow dual core , or a sepron
