So today's Christmas and I wanted a dual monitor setup so I could play games on one monitor and have things on the other monitor so I don't have to Alt-Tab every time I want to skip a song on Itunes while I'm gaming.

The problem is that when I connected the second monitor to my computer the monitor isn't detected by my computer for whatever reason. I've found out that the monitor isn't the problem because when I switch the cables around the monitor I got will work. So I two VGA ports on the back of my desktop but only one of them seems to be working. Can someone help me out here please?

For those who may ask I have an ASUS CM1831 desktop.
The monitors are Acer and Asus monitors.
ASUS being: VS197
ACER being: K202HQL

Please help me!

Ah yes that is in fact the right ports I have. I'm having some problems uploading pictures at the moment but at the top where all the ports are, there is another VGA port. That is where I'm plugging in the second monitor, not where the main VGA port is.

Yes the monitors only have VGA ports. Would an HDMI to VGA cord work for this situation?
