I am curious if I need to plug in both the 8 pin and 4 pin power connections on an ASUS Crosshair hero VIII motherboard when paired with a Ryzen 3800X?
The general rule is that it will work fine with just the 8 pin, but if your PSU has both use both. I dont believe its even possible to overclock a Ryzen to the point where you can exceed the 8 pins power limit.
I assume that is the 4 pin EPS cable? The CableMod pro kit I purchased didn't come with the 4 pin that's why I ask. I have the Corsair AX860i PSU so that should have the 4 pin connection capable?
Its the 4 pin ATX12V cable. And its up to you, like I said I dont think you will ever exceed the 8 pins power delivery limit in anything but some crazy LN2 setup.
