Asus Crosshair V Formula Z memory wont run 32gb

Hi there,

i just purchased the ASUS Crosshair v Formula Z and it won't count passed 16 gb on the post screen whats wrong with it also some times it fails the post and does not come up on my screen, windows 8 pro 64 bit says 32 gb installed and 15.9 gb usable the mother board utility recognizes that all for banks have 8 gb each whats going wrong?

Hi, With single RAM module test each slot. See if the board does boot and if 8GB recognised.

it does recognize 8gb in each slot in windows 8 on the software disk provided by the ASUS it's just the post Recognizes 16 GB only i have updated the BIOS i will be giving them a call tomorrow still canny figer out why, windows says 32 GB installed and says next to it 15.9GB useable so..... it also crashed the BIOS if i force it to run the ram at the correct speed of 1600mhz, the funny thing is that the board came in a fancy display case and the plastic on the top seems to feel very static ie

Try clearing the CMOS (unplug the power cord and remove the CMOS battery for few minutes). Then install all RAM modules and see if still the same.

It worked thanks very much 🙂 and it seems stable still runing at 1333 though but I can deal with that thanks again

You're welcome. For 1600 you have to manually set the values in BIOS. If not sure how to, post back.
