I was putting in a fan to my spare computer while it was on and i accidently powered it by molex and 4 pin on board then it sparked. I shut it down and restarted it and everything works fine except the 4 pin header. I now have a 9590 and a m5a99fx pro r2.0 and it is overheating and freezing. Should i try putting the 9590 in the formula even though it sparked and the 4 pin fan header doesnt work?

Solution
First off, that CPU is a DISASTER and will almost ALWAYS overheat unless you have an expensive water-cooling set-up. So sadly, you shoulda went with the 8350/8320. Never the less, if the CPU fan header doesn't work then don't even try to plug in a monster-hot CPU like that since it would multiply the overheating problem. My suggestion would either be buy a proper FX-8000 series (Same performance, lower clock and cooler running) or grab up a really expensive water cooling loop. I suggest the former option, as it's easier to just swap out a different CPU.

i recently upgraded from a 8320 to a 9590 dont ask why. Had the money and was bored. Its not the cpu header just some opt_fan2 header. There are enough other fan headers than work to power all the fans in the 600t i am housing it in.

lol well since you want that CPU I would also suggest using the Crosshair board. I have the M5a99FX PRO as well and I think the TDP only goes up to an 8350. I think the 9590 is simply too power-hungry for any board less then a $200+ board. Most boards can't handle the higher wattages that FX-9000 series provide other then the more expensive ones, (like the ASUS ROG boards, including your Crosshair)

So I should try the formula z even though a opt fan is shorted?

Yes plug your cpu fan in a different hedder and use it, just disable the shorted out opt fan in the bios and you should be good.

Thank you very much for your repsonse (everyone). I will try that today and come back with some results. One more off topic question the crosshair v formula Z has a 8+4 pin but my rm 750 only has one eps connector. I have another build with a 4790k and a ax860i and it has two eps but i only use one. Would i be able to use the eps on the 860i in the rm750 or i should just buy a connector piece.

I ended up just changing boards and manually undervolting and underclocking until it became stable. I undervolted it to 1.32V and to 4.5Ghz. Still a 1Ghz upgrade from my 8320. Thanks for the help.
