Asus CUBEX question

Hi everybody!
I`m currently using 2 hard drives(IDE), (one 20gb& one 30 gb) on my Asus CUBEX mobo, running a P111 700mhz.My question is: if I need more disk space say 600gb, will it be ok to go in for 300gb( IDE) X 2 ?
I`m asking this coz I wish to know if a motherboard determines the maximum amount of disk space possible on each drive or is it something else?

windows determines the amount of usable hdd space.

Have the latest BIOS so your system will recognize both 300gb hard drives with their max capacities
