ASUS D550MA cooler fan issue

Ok, so i have this ASUS Notebook which got its motherboard damaged for what i had to buy a new one (mb), i replaced it and volià, it works! However, i noticed that the fan didn't event start spinning although the temperature kept increasing according to speedfan tool. I decided to plug the 4-pin fan connector off the mb and connect it to a direct power supply (see picture below) and it started spinning. I may ask then, what might be going on with this fan? has anyone seen such a behaviour before? I read something about a sensor and a speed control integrated with these kind of fans (i assume they're related to the other 2 wires). Need some advice when buying a new fan is not an option. 1) Check your BIOS for any fan/temperature settings,
2) If nothing is found in BIOS, Contact Asus Tech Support.
