Asus DVD 12x and ata66

The drivers for this only seem to support ata-33(udma2), which is all the old asus dvd 8x supported. This drive isn't even on the Asus website. Anyone have any idea how to enable it?

The 8x DVD-drive offered a 10,800 KB/sec transfer rate so in theory shouldn't the transfer rate be 16,200 KB/sec for the 12x? This still comes in under ATA33 so an ATA66 interface might be pointless, perhaps that is why you can only get it to go UDMA2.
BTW does anyone know if the Asus 8x is a good drive? I saw it at a local store for a good price and was considering purchasing it.

I am pretty sure that all ide cdrom/dvd rom drives are ata33, there is just no need for them to be anything higher yet.

as long as you have udma then you'll get the most out of your drive. watching dvds really require udma
