ASUS DVD R/W Drive - Not opening - should I RMA?

I got an ASUS DVD R/W drive - and put it in my system and put cabling in order - and when I fired up the PC - everything was going well.

New drive recognized - updated driver confirmed - Ready to test drive.

Press Button on Face of Drive - Light goes on - Nothing happpens. NO mechanical noise - or Disk tray opening.

I try and eject using the Computer Properties submenu - same thign - Light goes on - and no mechanical ejection Followed with an error window

An error occurred while ejecting 'DVD RW Drive (D)

I rebooted the PC - and Makes no difference - drive still doesn't open.

My gut says this thing needs to get RMA'd for a replacement but I wanted to make sure I covered my bases before returning Drive - and there was anything I overlooked. I've swapped out about half a dozen drives over the years - and never run into this issue.
