While the ASUS heatsinks are larger, probably having more mass to them, their fin design when compared to the reference Seasonic design appears to have reduced the effective surface area that would be in contact with the surrounding air ... at least from what's visible in the provided pictures. The original Seasonic design may have better thermal performance, just not look as pretty.
