Asus essentio Windows 7 mouse keyboard doesn\'t work at login screen

At win 7 login screen mouse & keyboard USB 2.0 doesn't work. We've tried this same mouse & keyboard in a diff computer & it worked fine . Help

Is this because of a new install of Win7, or the mouse & kB stopped working ?

If the latter, go to safe mode and try options to restore, etc.

If they're not even working at BIOS, make sure you're using USB 2.0 ports, as not all boards have legacy support for USB 3.0 support yet, or at least not enabled by default.

Night Owl is on the right track! Make sure you use the black USB 2 ports.

I had exactly this. Mouse & kbd in BIOS but lights went out when Windows starts to load. It seems USB3 is default on my Z97 but Win 7 has no native USB3 drivers so it has no idea that they are there. It seems you need to disable xHCI, whatever that is when it's at home
