Stupidly used the EZ Update inside Windows and need some help in resolving without turning my brand-new motherboard into a brick.
I have the disc that came with board.
I am not a custom build tech, so simple step-by-step response would be great.

I have a new Maximus VII Ranger
running Windows 7 Pro
I activated the Ez Update inside Windows
- lists as upgrading from 0809 to 1104
- Now the computer is hanging
- Update is not moving
- Mouse & Keyboard do not work
- Cannot access Task Manager

Can I pull the power on the machine?
or will that destroy the board?

Thanks in advance for your help

That is correct.
Still frozen at this point (5+ hours later)

It seems the only way to move on from the crash is to pull the power
But if I do that, am I going to damage the BIOS ?

What recovery options are there?

you dont have a choice and if the bios gets corrupted then as far as i know its an rma but you could try other options I think you can dl the bios on a usb drive and flash it without booting the pc on some boards

OK, thanks
I think I'll see if there are any other options before I return the board. still waiting on ASUS tech support to get back to me
The USB drive might work, but I want to make sure I take the correct steps

Thanks. Checked that out. Though I think I will wait for ASUS tech support to tell me to do that first. If I have to RMA, then I want to make sure I do it by the book.

Thanks again
