I downloaded the asus EZ update on my new desktop pc with a asus z170 motherboard. After processing the update in the bios and restarting, the pc would repeatedly turn on for 10 seconds then off. I then pressed the reset button and now my pc is running (all the fans, cpu fans, ram light, mobo light), but there is no display on my monitor and my mouse and keyboard are not on either. What should I do? Im thinking my bios got corrupted. How do i fix this.

Did EZ update perform a bios firmware update of your motherboard.

If it did, by doing that the board has now defaulted back to it`s factory defaults.

Now the board likely has on board video out put ports.
If you have your monitor cable connected to a Pci-e based graphics card placed in the pci-e slot of the motherboard.

Take the video lead from the Pci-e based graphics card.
Connect the monitor cable to the video ports of the motherboard.

Enter the bios of the motherboard.
Change the primary graphics port to initialize first in the bios menu to Pci-e or Peg mode.
Save the settings in the bios before you exit it.
Then swap the cable from the back of the motherboard to the pci-e based graphics card, and one of it`s video output ports on that card.

Restart your system and your problem is fixed.

When ever you perform or do a bios firmware upgrade of your bios of the motherboard.
The bios after the flashing process is always reset back to factory defaults.

Factory default mode of the bios, always returns back to the on board video solution of the motherboard.
So because you have a Pci-e based graphics card it is why you got a black screen on the next restart of the system.
Untill you changed the primary graphics interface back to initializing the pci-e graphics port of the motherboard first.

To get your keyboard and mouse to work.
In the bios look for the option of detect legacy usb devices, enable it in the bios. Save the settings before you exit the bios.

The system will restart, and your keyboard and mouse will then work also.

Right now I am using one hdmi cable to connect to my monitor and I am doing what you are saying and connecting it to the mobo hdmi port and I even restarted my pc, but my pc is still running with no image.

So what happened was, even when the bios update was processing, my mouse was frozen even after connected it back in a few times. After it finished processing, I pressed enter and I am not even sure my keyboard was frozen. The pc turns off to reboot and after booting up, the fans will turn on for 12 seconds then turn off. This would happen repeatedly with it being off then on continuously. The MEM OK! light would light up then turn off followed by a few seconds of the fans running then turning off.

I pressed the reset button or I reconnected the PSU but now everything is just on with no signal to the monitor. Right now, all the lights and fans are working, and my monitor (in the mobo hdmi port), keyboard and mouse are off.

My Motherboard is the asus z170a. In addition, Thank you so much for replying. I really appreciate it.

thank you! it works. never updating bios through os again. geez.

Congrats. Glad you got everything sorted out.! I agree I think updating through bios limits problems that can happen.
