Question Asus G14 randomly freezes and restarts ?

Hello,

I just got my laptop (BestBuy link- to check specs) and I've been experiencing random freezes (permanent) and restarts (even when doing nothing demanding), and some BSODs but not as frequent.
They occur sometimes even back-to-back. And freezing even happened in BIOS.
Also when I enter BIOS, CPU temps increase up to ~93C, then fans run and temp drops to ~80C.

When laptop freezes the screen stays on last thing (sometimes green blocks appear like in this image with some flickering), disk LED stops flickering, sometimes fans turn on.

What I tried:
  • Clean installed Win11. => still freeze/restart when charging or not
  • Clean installed Win10 => no more freeze/restart when not plugged into power (edit: just froze, then when i tried to restart i got BSOD DPC-WATCHDOG-VIOLATION)
  • Updated all drivers.
  • Ran sfc /scannow
  • Ran WMDT
  • Ran CHKDSK

I checked the logs, and these are some that might relate to the problem:
-Event ID 153 (disk)
-Event ID 521 / Task 220 (Kernel-Power)
-Event ID 55 / Task 47 (Kernel-Processor-Power) 15 of them

Now, I'm on Win10 only getting the freeze/restarts when I'm charging, otherwise up till now everything is stable. But I'm lost, I hope someone can help me fix this.

Thanks very much!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Clean installed Win11. => still freeze/restart when charging or not
Clean installed Win10 => no more freeze/restart when not plugged into power

Where did you source the installers for the OSes mentioned above?

Does your laptop have any BIOS updates pending?

Use DDU and see if removing all GPU drivers then manually reinstalling with the latest version of AMD's GPU drivers in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator, helps your predicament.

I got the OS from Microsoft, the media creation tool.

Nope, laptop is up-to-date.

Edit: DDU didn't help
