[SOLVED] ASUS G74SX -- attaching ribbon cable for second HDD

The ribbon end of the cable looks to be exactly the right size but the slot on the motherboard is too tight.

There are a couple of plastic posts on either side of the slot that might be part of a locking mechanism but they don't respond to cautious sideways pressure.

Is the cable the wrong cable or is there a trick to opening up the slot?

Might want to read into this thread. Might want to see this video as well. The cable should be going in without any force, by the definition of zif. Where did you source the cable from, mind you?
