Asus g74sx RAM question

Hello there!

My pc have a weird combination of a 2 gb stick and a 4 gb stick, resulting in 6 gb of memory. I'm going to upgrade it and thought about getting 8gb more or two sticks with 4gb. But is it "normal" having 14gb of memory? Should I get identical sticks instead? Or how does this work? Help is really appriciated

Never mix two different kits of RAM as it can lead to all sorts of issues. Best to only use RAM from the same kit. So my recommendation is, buy a set of 2x4GB or 2x8GB.
