Asus graphics card, which to choose

Asus ROG Matrix Platinium Radeon R9 280X vs ASUS RADEON R9 290 DIRECTCUII OC -4GB GDDR5


These are the two graphics cards i am having a huge difficulty with choosing. I mainly play fps and flight simulators. Any advice would be much appreciated

Here's a good site to check benchmark results. As you can see in Crysis 3, the 290 pulls ahead of the 280x by a good bit!
This was consistent across Metro and Bioshock Infinite

I believe that Flight Simulators are very CPU dependent so investing in an i7/Xeon-1231 would be a good idea.
